Appointments

Choosing the right therapist for you is important as the relationship between client and therapist is key to the success of any therapy, so it’s a good thing to look around and spend a bit of time finding someone that you are completely comfortable with. I would urge you to find out what training a hypnotherapist has and to ensure that they are members of a professional and reputable governing body such as the NCH and are fully insured.  I think it is also important for you to understand the approach that will be used, especially whether any treatment plan will be tailor made to you as no two individuals will ever experience a problem in the same way, however similar the issue may seem.

You can call me to have a chat about making an appointment so that once we have spoken, you can know I'm the right therapist for you. Some people prefer contact by e-mail, and that’s fine too.  Above all, you need to be completely comfortable.

Therapy is about enabling you to trust your choices. This is your first one.

What to expect

The first time we meet will be to discuss what it is you would like help with changing. Everybody is different - and so is how they experience their problem - and the first session will be about identifying the patterns of thoughts and feelings that create your experience.  We’ll also talk about how you would like things to be without your problem – the solution state you want to achieve. From this, I will know where best to focus our attention before we start changing anything. This first session may be an hour to an hour and a half and it’s likely that the ‘change work’ will start in the second session.

Your feedback will be my guide for any subsequent sessions - often you’ll already have noticed positive differences. We either continue to work on what’s left of the problem, or to consolidate and expand the improvements you’ve been experiencing.

From there on it really just depends on how quickly we get to the point where you have what you came for. It’s impossible to tell you how long therapy will take because of the uniqueness of each client, however, Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a brief therapy bringing results much more quickly than many other forms of therapy.

Where will we meet?

I work from a peaceful, well equipped therapy room at Isis Health Care in Kiln Farm, Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire. I can provide directions if required once our appointment together is confirmed.
