Depression
Depression is more common than you might think and can affect almost anyone. It can be more than just feeling down occasionally and can affect everyday life in numerous ways.
The causes of depression are still widely debated and what is certain is that each individual’s experience and how their life is affected will differ. For this reason, it’s important that any therapy addresses the individual – a ‘one size fits all’ approach is less likely to achieve effective or long lasting results.
Depression can start gradually, leaving you unaware of why you feel like you do and perhaps not even noticing when it first started. Often the exact cause of your depression might not be pinpointed, but that doesn’t mean the problem can’t be addressed. Using Cognitive Hypnotherapy I can help you to uncover and resolve unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour that might be maintaining the problem. With a focus on how you would like to be instead, we can work with a number of approaches and techniques to put you back in control of your life, able to choose how you want to feel, and learning the means by which to achieve it.
Treatment for depression can often take a few more sessions to achieve the desired results than might be the case for other problems – although not always, and in my experience, most people are noticing some positive changes after the first two or three sessions. It’s also important to acknowledge that fast change is not the right, or most comfortable thing, for some people and change will generally occur at a rate that you are ready for.
