About half of all smokers die from smoking-related diseases – that’s somewhere between 100,000 and 140,000 people in the UK dying each year due to smoking. If you are a long-term smoker, your life expectancy is, on average, about 10 years less than a non-smoker. But, if you’re a smoker, you already know about the risks to health, and it’s not enough to motivate you to stop smoking. Rationally, you know all of the health reasons for quitting, but for many people it’s the unconscious emotional connections to the habit that keep the addiction in place.
The good news is:
- Stopping smoking can make a big difference to your health. It is never too late to stop smoking to greatly benefit your health. Our bodies are amazing and start the healing process within hours of your last cigarette
- In 3 to 9 months lung function increases by up to 10%
- In 1 year the risk of a heart attack falls to about half that of a smoker
- Many people have given up smoking. It is possible to break free completely and for good

For some, smoking is just a habit, but for many it can be more than this. Have you managed to quit before – even for long enough for the physical addiction to have long since died, only to start again leaving you wondering just what made you pick up that packet again? This often means there is an underlying emotional connection to smoking, which whilst left unaddressed can make quitting completely and for good difficult.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy and NLP can be highly effective in helping you stop smoking as problems are addressed at all levels that might be necessary. By teaching you techniques from NLP, I can show you how to deal with the cravings and to change the habit. Using Cognitive Hypnotherapy, we can identify and work together to resolve any underlying emotional connections you may have to the habit. People are often surprised at the positive effects they experience in other areas of their lives as a result of resolving such core emotional issues.
Whilst treatment is not a replacement for willpower and commitment to change, it can certainly strengthen it, and by putting you in control of how you want to be means that you can be free of the habit more quickly and easily than you might once have thought possible.
