Hypertension/High Blood Pressure
Hypnotension TM – the natural way to manage high blood pressure
What is Hypertension
Hypertension is the medical term for high blood pressure. Blood pressure is a measure of the pressure within the arteries as the heart pumps blood around your body. Generally, the lower your blood pressure, the healthier you are in the long term (with the exception of some very rare conditions in which very low blood pressure is part of an underlying disease).
Blood pressure naturally changes throughout the day in response to many factors including your emotional state and physical activity levels. Hypertension is diagnosed when blood pressure stays consistently too high over time.
High blood pressure is very common and is thought to account for 20-25% of all deaths worldwide and affects one in three people worldwide (over 16 million people in the UK and 50 million people in the USA). The treatment of hypertension saves lives.
In 90-95% of cases there is no specific, physical underlying cause, known as primary or essential hypertension, and this is where the Hypnotension TM programme can help.
What is the Hypnotension TM Programme?
The Hypnotension™ programme is one-to-one therapy with me, a Certified Hypnotension Practitioner. Together, we will address the emotional and lifestyle factors which contribute to your hypertension so that you can take back control and reduce your blood pressure naturally.
Your progress is carefully monitored over the course of treatment so you get the most benefit as soon as possible, and so that we both know what is working best in your particular case.
A copy of your progress chart can be made available to you so you can show your GP if you wish.
It is recognised by the medical profession that there are many emotional and lifestyle factors which affect blood pressure and it is likely that your GP will have provided you with some advice and guidance on these areas. These most common risk factors are:
· Weight and diet
· Exercise and activity levels
· Salt intake
· Alcohol consumption
· Emotional state and ‘stress’ levels
However, for many people, just knowing about the changes needed is the first step. Taking action is the next one and many find this more achievable when given help and support along the way. So, if you need to lose weight, cut down on alcohol, reduce salt and exercise more, I can help. In additional to these areas I can also work with you to explore and resolve the underlying emotional factors – things that might not be so easy to work on alone.
The Hypnotension TM programme effectively targets 5 out of the 6 main risk factors (the 6th being the health of your heart, arteries and kidneys). It is known that if you reduce these risk factors it is highly likely that, as well as reducing your high blood pressure, you will also improve your overall health dramatically. This natural approach allows you to take control of improving your health and wellbeing – a further positive step that can open all manner of possibilities in your life.

FAQs
How many sessions will I need?
Because the combination of factors in high blood pressure is unique for each person, it can typically vary from 4-12 sessions over a suitable period of time. The sessions will be focused on your personal needs so that you get the most benefit in the shortest time possible.
How much does it cost?
The cost of each session is £60. More information is available on my
Fees page.
Will it work for me?
If you have Primary (or Essential) hypertension, are committed to lowering your blood pressure, willing to work together with me and do the tasks you are set, it should certainly work for you. Not everyone can return their blood pressure to ‘ideal’ levels in a short period of time, but even a modest reduction can slash your chances of having a stroke or heart disease by 10% or more.
I’m on blood pressure medication, can I still use the Hypnotension program?
YES. Blood pressure medication manages the symptoms of hypertension whereas Hypnotension works with the underlying emotional ‘x factors’ and aggravating factors. So as the causes of your high blood pressure disappear, your GP may be able to reduce your medication over time. Note: any changes to medication must be under the supervision of your GP.
How long before I see any drop in my blood pressure?
Each person is different, so it’s impossible to give a precise timescale, however most people start to see a reduction in their blood pressure within 3 or 4 sessions providing they are following the programme and doing all the tasks set. The number of sessions will depend on the number of factors that have to be dealt with in your particular case.
I have secondary hypertension, can I use the Hypnotension programme?
Probably not. The Hypnotension programme is designed to help people with Primary or Essential Hypertension, as these types of high blood pressure are influenced by emotional and lifestyle factors. Secondary Hypertension is diagnosed when there is an identifiable medical condition, such as kidney disease, so whilst I may be able to provide some help, it will be limited by your underlying medical condition.
